Presentation

Nowadays, determination of gene/protein-targets or epigenetic marks of age-related diseases, using up-to-date transcriptomics and proteomics analysis, acquire special significance. Optimization of advanced sequencing approaches gives an opportunity to narrow the search of targeting marks for potential drug discovery and development of personalized methods for disease treatment, including oncology and neurodegeneration.
Cardiovascular diseases are the major cause of aging and death. It is estimated that more then 50 % of human population possess different kinds of cardiovascular diseases. Such pathologies are linked with atherosclerosis. Literature data illustrates that in atherosclerotic patients calcium and phosphate levels are disturbed, which might result in regulation of genes, involved in bone formation.

The significance of such investigations is coupled with the lack of experimental data, including gene expression and protein interaction analysis, for the identification of calcification biomarkers and ways of treatment. Additionally, the development of system methods and personalized approaches will allow to minimize the risk of myocardial infarction in patients with atherosclerosis. Such investigations can be used both, in applied science and clinical research.
Action plan.
Identification of the potential calcification targets means analysis of signaling pathways and protein-protein interaction predictions. In our previous research project the key signaling pathways based on literature data were analyzed, using advanced bioinformatics tool TR GeneGo Metacore. DNA microarray data of atherosclerosis patients were applied for targeting the most plausible candidates and for the determination of potential calcification drugs. Our current research project was planned according to the gained experience. Transcriptomics and proteomics approaches will be performed, including (1) expression analysis of key genes, involved in calcification process, and protein-protein interactions. As a result, the list of essential biomarkers will be formed for personalized calcification treatment of atherosclerotic patients.

Results of our research will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented on international conferences.
